Actually, it is my second time to review this blog. The first time was when I joined My Thoughts, My Heart, My Turf's anniversary contest. I really enjoyed browsing Home Buddies but it is my first time to read Fedhz's "About" page. Here is what enlightened me and inspired me to read her articles more:

Mike, my boyfriend and best friend coined the title of this blog. I guess he really meant, home bodies (he’s not that good in spelling LOL). Anyway, still we are your home buddies, trying to earn money at home and doing much everything at home.

We’re pretty much at home – watching movies at home, working out at home, and earning money at home. I wish I will be able to share my experiences and somehow you will learn from them.

This blog is supposed to be a niche blog where I should write reviews of online and offline revenue gigs that I am into. But I thought since this is fedhz.com (which is my nick), I will just make it my personal blog. So what you will find here is mostly about how I see the world, my interests, struggles into keeping fit while being a mother of a hyper tot, and of course, how I am able to earn amidst all these stuff in my hands.

Blog Review: Recaptured Moments

If you have read my post about Rachelle's One Day at a Time blog, you will find there that she has seven blogs and one of them is her family blog which is Recaptured Moments.

I salute her for making a family blog. I'm having a hard time to make one because of "privacy issues". I'm thinking that being a family blogger will expose your family on the world wide web. I just try to avoid stalkers, haha.

But by just reading her blog, I was again inspired to make a family oriented blog. And was more inspired after reading her "About Us" page:

This blog is consist of updates on what is going on in our part of the world - our recaptured life and love stories, old but memorable experiences and other events we had.

It's my hope that this blog will keep our relatives and friends informed about what is going on in our lives. It's also my hope that visitors can appreciate what they will read and perhaps learn something from our stories though every blog post will be about personal stuff.

It's also my my hope to gain friends through blogging :)

Just About Anything -- Wow, first time to be in her blog and I'm really amazed by her category lists:

Her labels are not the usual blog labels I see from other blogs. What interest me most is her Germany articles because my aunt is in Germany now. I love to read about the country of Germany. When my tita sends us pictures, it always include some of the nice parks in Germany. That is why I can relate to Just About Anything's posts about that country. Other labels are also interesting and I just started reading some of them.

I will surely tell my tita to visit Kikamz's blog.

One Day at a Time is one of Rachelle's seven cool public blogs. As the slogan says, it is "just about anything", her memes, musings, random thoughts and a lot, lot more. This is really an inspiring personal blog for me. I really love her "girls talk" blog posts. Through Girl Talker, I get to know more about the bloggers. I just love browsing through their favorite food, book, activity, etc. Rachelle's blog posts are short but really entertaining.

But just before I begin my first job, I was already afraid of stress from the demands of work roles and responsibilities. Then a friend shared with me her good recipe for an intelligent lifestyle which includes:

a. Eat fruits and vegetables especially the ones rich in vitamin E.
b. Keep drinking water to keep rehydrated.
c. Good hours of sleep and rest.
d. Keep the stress levels down.
e. Take a bath everyday. It is our natural way of getting rid of dry skin cells.

f. For the face: Wash your face with warm water, use moisturizers, wear light make up and use make up removal creams to remove it, do not rub your face.

Experience Travel and Giving at the Same Time

The company that I work for aims to start the year 2010 right by giving back. We have done giving donations last year from Ondoy victims, Unang Hakbang Foundation kids, street children in Sampaloc, Manila to the elders of Mary Mother of Mercy. The transcription company is inspired more to do a lot of sorting and packing of goodies and in making others happy this year.

February 26, 2010 -- At first I thought it was going to be an ordinary outreach program day at a school, but it was not! This was really a one-of-a-kind charity work we have ever done at Maharlika Daycare Center in Montalban, Rizal and trekking at Rodriguez, Rizal.

First and foremost, we started unpacking the books, toys, and clothes from the package of Dr. McCormick to our office the day before.

Morning of February 26, we headed to Rodriguez, Rizal. We were wowed by the landscape scenery, saw green-spotted mountains again and white boulder rocks around.

Going up, we were welcomed by Mt. Tapusi which Lukesh, our guide, said that it is the legendary mountain moved by Bernardo Carpio. It is the one that we read on books of "alamat" or legends during childhood days.

We thought the area is near from the "bayan" but before we reached the daycare center, we passed by huge lime stones, met caves along the way, passed by a narrow bridge made up of bamboos and metals, and walked on rough roads.

But along those hardships come more amazing spots...

"Malayo Pa Ba?" All of us were hungry and thirsty. Not prepared for this as we thought we would just give joy to kids of the daycare center. We estimated the trek around 5km to 7km. What?! Oh, yes!

And now, at last, we came to the best part, gift giving to the students of Maharlika Daycare Center. We can't believe that there's a school on top of a mountain and that far away. We were surprised because the kids prepared a song and dance number for us. Of course, we also danced with them to the tune of Nobody by Wonder Girls.

Before going back to the office, Lukesh offered us to go to their camp where youth camps were held. It is just a short walk from the school. Lukesh's group is the one maintaining the daycare center and the protected area around the camp.

Now, GOING DOWN is much more fun than GOING UP!!! The route gets narrower and more enjoyable scenes coming right through your eyes.

We also saw the cast and crew of Matanglawin of ABS-CBN having a shoot below Wawa Dam.

WE THANK OUR BOSS AND GOD FOR GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO REACH OUT TO SOME KIDS AND TO SEE WONDERS OF THE PROVINCE OF RIZAL.

SHOEs Are Made For Walkin'

I love to travel, but I don't have the money to travel abroad or even just to roam around the Philippines. So if ever there's an opportunity, I grab it and always found my Seven Heaven On Earth (SHOEs) on every travel...

Trip to my lola's hometown, Pangasinan!

1) Happy to see how a tobacco plantation looks like, but was sad because tobaccos are turned into cigars...

2) Happy to see chicks, chicken, and other amazing creatures in the province. WE CAN'T SEE ANY OF THESE IN THE CITY!

3) My longest so far is the Cagayan de Oro trip. I got it from an incentive in the office. No late, no absences, and did well on production will get a trip to Cagayan de Oro City!!!

4) I had my first flight on that same trip.

5) First time to have helluvan outdoor adventures like white water rafting.

My second unforgettable tour was at Mt. Tapusi and Wawa Dam at Antipolo City.

6) It was not just a travel but a way to give back to the children of Antipolo by giving toys and books.

7) It's been a long time since I went to Antipolo City and was so refreshed again by the nature. I have only been seeing computers and computers in the office, so was so amazed to see green and blue again...

My Bears, My Inspirations, My SHOES Story

I still didnt consider myself as an arctophile or a bear lover. I just love to collect them and be my buddies. You're never too old for a teddy bear. I just wasnt to share my insights with my cuddly babies.

I have the Forever Friends bears here and I watch them and look at them every time I have a problem. These guys are so sweet.

The biggest bear that I have and my pillow at bedtime.

My closet collection of bears. Every morning, I pass by these teddies and adore them.

Family Bear - This family unleashes the childishness in me. I play lutu-lutuan with them.

It's one of the smallest, my cellphone charm teddy bear - a lucky charm for me.

One of the cutest bears I have that was given to me by my guy. Takes the stresses away.

Support Through Sports SHOE Story

I have compiled all my sports activities and it turned out that all of these were done for a good cause. I'll share my Seven Heaven On Earth (SHOEs) post on my sports activities.

1. Bridge Walking.

2. Zipline.

3. White Water Rafting.

These were done for the benefit of the children in the House of Friendship, Cagayan de Oro City.

4. Runners made a dash at BF Pasko Fun Run for the Presentation of the Child Jesus Parish.

5. Climb Mt. Tapusi to give books and toys of Maharlika Day Care Center.

6. We run to save the Dolphins at the Condura Race.

7. We not only give them grocery items, but we also taught them aerobics.

My Yesterday's SHOE Story

The SHOE (Seven Heaven On Earth) post of Earthlingorgeous really inspires me. It became my anti-stressor. I found out about it yesterday and since then I started to appreciate things more positively even the little ones. Thanks Earth!

February is the heartfelt month, and February became more festive as the Chinese-Filipino community celebrated Chinese New Year. What a lucky month, right ? And lucky me to find my SHOEs (Seven Heaven On Earth) this month. Feb really hearts me back.

Goldilocks Cake Expo - I got to know how to ice some cakes. One of a kind experience. Makes me wanna be a pastry chef again.

January SHOEs Story

January is the start of the year and I really had a lot of "first times" this month of resolutions. January really hearts me back because I got a lot of "SHOEs" on that month and I thank God for it.

This is really the blast of my January! I was chosen to be a live audience and experience Secrets of the Masters at Channel Q11.

And with that Secrets of the Masters taping, I'm glad to see my photo entry on wmn.ph for their contest page.

I was just mall hopping and happy to pass by TBS and got a FREE massage with their strawberry body butter. Haha, I really don't like the spa and massages, but after I got this massage, wow, it's super soothing and I want more massage! Great way to relax!

Blog My Butter Event - I was so nervous for my first blog event and I really don't know what to do with my media kit. Thanks for the help of other bloggers. I also got to score The Body Shop Originals and TBS Body Butters.

First time to visit a radio station and also got a White Hat frozen yogurts as a treat!

7 SHOEs of a Baby Sitter

For some of you it's hard to be a baby sitter, but for me it's really an enormous job no matter how "kulit" the kids are... And even if there are 5, 6, 7 kids or more, I still can manage them... I'm just fond of children.

And I just want to share what I get from:

1. My pain and tiredness flew away once I see them smile...

2. I learned how to be a child again... and learned how to play again...

3. I learned how to smile again...

4. I learned how to pray again... One time one of the kids I baby sit burped and he says, "Thank you, Lord." And I remember myself when I burp I just say, "Sorry."

5. I learned how to take things not so seriously... kahit gaano kabigat ang problema, just take it as it is... don't think too much about it.. it happens for a reason...

6. I learned how to give. One time I gave this gift to one of the kids without even thinking of the price. Before, I'm so kuripot. And after giving that gift to him, I felt a kick! It's nice to give pala, so rewarding because of his smile.

7. And lastly, because of this kids, I learned how to love my family again and learned how to appreciate things even the smallest ones...

Best shot doesn't mean you have to have the best camera to give your best shot, most difficult doesn't mean you have to do death defying stunts, most crowded does not mean you'll just have a bunch of people. What if they don't use Twitter? But at least they would come to know that the word and world of Twitter exist in our world. The real aim of the game is to let a lot of people know about @abeolandres and @talk2globe, right guys?

I don't have the best shot. I don't have the most difficult pose. I did not get enough crowd. But for the creativity, this is my best shot!

Instead of putting it on bond paper, cartolina, Manila paper or tarpaulin, I thought of putting the message on a BLACK SHIRT! Gosh, I got two weeks before I can think of it.

With the help of Transfer It at SM Mall of Asia, I got my shirt in process. A lot of people also wants to make their "Design-Your-Own" shirts. I'm first on the line and waiting for me to finish my shirt, so I know that they can follow what I want to say on my shirt. I heard some of the guys saying, "What's that? Follow @abe -- what?" And the others would say, "abeolandres, ano ka ba?!" Haha, funny. Good for me because one machine was only operating and they really have to wait for me to finish. I'm also glad that the crew are so patient because I really have a lot of letters to put on my shirt. I got them to also memorize my theme on my shirt, WOW!

Here's our drafting part. (Parang Puzzle, GOSH!) No characters for the "@" sign. What we did is get the small letter "a" of their Elegant-style font and some curved letters on the Elegant-style font like capital letter "C" to make that "@" sign. Can you imagine? We put the letter "a" inside the letter "C". Got it?

Now, to the heat-press part...

And the finish product... TADA!

On this heartfelt holiday, cupids draw back their arrows and let it go. That's why "cheesy" people think of sweet somethings for their love ones in this day of hearts.

Let's start the cheesy moments! As I entered a shining car, I saw a big teddy on the driver's seat holding a bouquet of tulips with a twist. Bouquet with a twist? Yes, you read it right because the person who gave it to me added some "little bears on sticks" on the dozen of blooms.

After an hour of ride, The White Hat at SM Mall of Asia is the place where we arrived. A reserved table for me and my "mine" on the side. And I can't believe what I see before my very eyes, two big bears seem to have a dinner. I also saw a heart-shaped spaghetti on the table, sparkling wine with berries in it and two cups of The White Hat Italian frozen yogurt topped with strawberries, mochi and granola. And there's a note which says, "Pay the Bill." What? Pay the bill? Okay, fine. And as the White Hat crew handed me the receipt, another note is what I see, "Here's your surprise. Look at the side and a lot of more cuddly bears and White Hat cups are coming your way"

And a guy enters from behind, his face covered with furry bears, throws them and shouts, "Surprise!" And more White Hat crews are holding White Hat cups with strawberries shaped like hearts. Well, well, well, that's my "mine"!

And we have been "beary, berry" happy ever after' THE END!

Saturday is really a busy day for me. It's the time for house clean up and also a day to spend with my little kiddie cute kapitbahays.

Kalat dito, kalat doon. I clean up, they mess up.. So the best thing to do is to bond with the little angels as they play and refresh with fruit juices like Minute Maid Pulpy Orange.

And after long hourse of playing, they also get tired and fell asleep. Once that happens, it's time for me to gear up with my walis tambo, dust pan and trash can and clean the house.

On a lazy weekend afternoon,
all I want to do is turn the T.V. on
or have a movie marathon.

Doing nothing
sets you to crave for something.

So I always grab a bag of crispy chips
and a liter of soda drinks.
Oh, no, loading up a lot of calories
from these munchies.

So I thought of eating something refreshing
instead of chip munching.

And look at this thing that I've made,
a glass of fruits plus Minute Maid.
The pulpy bits adds a twist
with an orange-y, tangy and fruity taste.

And this is how I enjoy my pulpy OJ,
top with fruits like apple, banana and grape,
and I'll be A-Okay with my movie day!

Run Minute Maid, Run!

Last December, our company, Datamed, joined the BF Pasko Fun Run at The Village Sports Club, BF Homes Paranque City. Wow, it's my first time to attend this kind of health and benefit event. I really have no practice run before doing it, but I did stretching. As I see the finish line, I really feel that my feet are going to gave up. Haha, but it's good that I've finished it. That was me in blue aiming for the finish line.

This is our team!

After the awarding ceremonies, picture taking, sharing stories and experiences with my colleagues about the run, it's time to go home.

When I got home, I opened my gym bag and grab my Minute Maid! Not anymore cold, but still refreshing as there's a lot of pulpy bits going inside my mouth.

It's a good thing my friend got me a picture after the run drinking this Minute Maid at our house.

No Compromise New Year's Resolution

The year has started and I'm actually doing these resolutions right now and I will continue these not just after 2010 but until the very end...

*I’m creating the possibility of being productive in work as a medical/legal transcriptionist. On 2009, I was so relaxed. For now, I’m only transcribing 30-minute files, this year, I will do 40-minute file a day with 98% to 100% accuracy. But of course I’ll do it little by little to make it easier like adding at least 2-minute files a day so that it won’t be hard for me to adjust.

*In 2010, I’ll start cooking. I love watching cooking shows and demos but I really don’t know how to cook. I’ll begin with pica-pica foods first, then do the more complicated ones.

*I will be organized. I’m sleeping on a double deck bed, and I sleep on the lower bed and I put all my stuff on the second level. In 2010, I’ll start my year right by cleaning and make sure not to pile up again my things there.

*This year, I will not be “makakalimutin”. I will take time to journal my events and things to do in life so I won’t forget them. And I’m doing it now.

*This year, I will look fantabulous (fantastic and fabulous) hehe. I’ll try on how to put even just a light makeup. And have my hair straight. My looks last year was so boring. I want to look good on photos and even in the eyes of my crush. Hahaha

Unsung Hero

Becoming a hero does not only mean dying for our country or saving other people's lives. "There's a hero if you look inside your heart..." as the lyrics go. That's really true. There is a hidden modern-day hero in everyone of us. Here's how I take part:

1. As a medical/legal transcriptionist, I am proud that other foreign clients believe in us as they outsource their work loads to us. Once, the foreign clients liked our job as medical/legal transcriptionists (BPO Agents), they will be outsourcing more of their jobs here in the Philippines, and this will help our economy even just in a small way. I also try to excel in my work field. In this way, I am able to help my family in our financial needs and able to share blessings to others.

2. I'm also the "tourist guide" in our family. Once my family and relatives come to visit Philippines, they always call me up to take them to places. We always do "KAIN PINOY" (pinakbet, adobo, kakanin, street foods), "BUY PINOY" (eco-friendly bags, pasalubong), "RIDE PINOY" (jeep, tricycle, kalesa) and "TOUR PINAS" (Bora, Tagaytay, Baguio).

3. "Huwag lang puro awa sa kapwa." Huwag awa ang pairalin at sisihin ang gobyerno sa kalagayan nila. Ikaw mismo ang tumulong sa kanila kahit sa maliit na paraan. Lagi akong may dalawang cookies or something sa bag kapag pumapasok ako sa office para kapag may nakasalubong akong street kids or street man, binibigyan ko ng kung anong meron ako sa bag."

And once you've helped them, say it loud and proud. As Willie Revillame said in his game show, "Sa panahon ngayon huwag mong itago na tumutulong ka. Dapat ipagsabi mo para tularan ka ng iba."

My Grownup Christmas List

Why grown up? Grown up in the sense that it will be the first time that I am not making a wish list just for my own sake. I know tapos na ang Christmas and only one wish came true, the toys for my ampons. Here are the others:

1. Shopping GCs for my mommy groovy because she loves shopping pero walang money kaya window shopping muna (dami na nga niyang nabiling windows, hehe).

2. Clothes for my daddy groovy because he's a teacher. He really needs to have different clothes.

3. Personal protective equipments for my brother as he works as a welder.

4. A plane ticket for my lolo dear so he can visit my long lost uncle in Cagayan.

5. Toys for my ampons.

At first, I only thought of these wishes for nomnomclub's contest, but after writing these wishes, nahiya ako sa sarili ko at gusto ko na talagang tuparin. Hindi man ngayon pero bago siguro matapos ang 2009 or sa first quarter ng 2010. I also joined one contest and I said that I will be donating toys and books for less fortunate kids to make my Christmas special. But I was only thinking of that not knowing na ginawa ko rin na magdonate sa Jollibee Maaga ang Pasko. I'm really happy that bloggers come up with these kinds of contests that can change their readers' lives.

In our family, we don't usually celebrate Christmas Naghahanda rin ng konting salu-salo pero hindi kasing bongga kapag New Year's Eve. Kadalasan bumibili lang si Mama ng ham or roasted chicken at iyon na, okay na ang Noche Buena. Hindi rin kami nag-oopen ng gifts kapag Christmas. New Year's Eve namin ito ginagawa. Sa mismong araw ng Pasko, December 25, minsan lumalabas kami, pumupunta ng mall at kumakain sa labas. Para sa ibang bata katulad ko noon, ang lungkot ng Pasko lalo na kapag wala ang Papa ko...

Hanggang sa dumating ang isang araw na hindi ko inaasahan, hindi ko inaasahan na magkakaroon ako ng tinatawag na "Best Christmas".

Pagkatapos ng dalawang taon, hindi ko inaasahan na matutupad and wish ko... and wish ko sana bumalik na si Papa mula sa kanyang "pangingibang bahay." Take note, "pangingibang bahay."

Kaya ang Paskong 1999 ang the best Christmas para sa akin kasi buo na ulit ang family namin. Iyon din ang first time na nagcelebrate kami ng bonggang bonngang Christmas. Maraming food, gifts, fireworks, games at mga kamag-anak na sabay sabay sumalubong kay Bro at sa pagbabalik at pagtanngap ulit kay Papa.

For my face:
I wash my face with warm water, use moisturizers, wear light make up and use make up removal creams to remove it, and I do not rub my face.

For my body:
I soothe my skin not only with lotion but with sunblock.

For my feet:
I put petroleum jelly on my feet, put my socks on and leave it overnight while I'm asleep. This is to keep your feet feeling smooth and no need to go for a foot spa.

And the secret... I know these are obvious but really effective. And I know these regimens take a long, long time results, but the results are really nice...

a. Eat fruits and vegetables especially the ones rich in vitamin E.
b. Keep drinking water to keep rehydrated.
c. Good hours of sleep and rest.
d. Keep the stress levels down.
e. Take a bath everyday. It is our natural way of getting rid of dry skin cells.

Why is grooming important?

For me, grooming is really part of an intelligent lifestyle and it is part of having a good hygiene. And why is it important? Haha, what if you bumped into your crush and hindi ka neatly groomed? Haha, wa-poise and wa-points ka dear!!!

Firefly Palit CFL: FREE Firefly Bulbs!

Do you want to save more on your electric bills? Now, you can do it by simply replacing your incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). We all know that CFLs uses less energy than the incandescent ones and CFLs last longer.

But here's the hint, not only that you can save your electricity usage but you can also save money. How? You can save your money from buying CFLs because you can have your CFLs for free. Here's how.

Yes, you read it right, for FREE because on November 28, 2009, Firefly Lighting will hold “Firefly Palit CFL” at San Miguel by the Bay, SM Mall of Asia from 3:00pm to 6:30pm.

A person may bring his/her old incandescent bulb and exchange it with Firefly CFLs. The *bulbs may be brand new or old and may be Firefly brand or competitor brands. However, they are not accepting broken (basag) incandescent bulbs. *Maximum of three (3) bulbs per person.

At 6:30 p.m., there will be a Firefly Christmas Special where they will light their Eco-Friendly Christmas Tree.

Bring your family so they may join the festivities on Saturday.
